One foot in front of the other

We haven't posted in a while, and I really like this photo, so I'll let it speak for itself.

Dustin is crawling all over the place. It's fun to see him identify what he wants, and then pursue it! It's wonderful to be back from my trip.

Grandma's Visit and Mom Absence

Grandma arrived on Thursday to help out as Jessica heads to Ocean Sciences Meeting in Salt Lake. I wasn't sure if Dustin remembered Grandma, but with her loving baby magic, Dustin quickly found Grandma as his lastest play toy. He showed her how he could pull himself up on every thing in sight. He showed her how he could crawl, but that was boring. So he pulled himself up on Grandma and let go. I know he wanted to say "Look at me Grandma!!", but it ended with him crashing to the floor and crying. Good thing Grandma loves holding him.

The first night was an interesting discussion. Grandma offered to sleep with Dustin, which I was both concerned and happy with at the same time. It meant a she would take care of Dustin during the middle of the night and let Jessica and me sleep. I was all in favor of this, mostly. I knew that my turn was going to come shortly. Grandma has performed with flying colors. She is a natural Grandma and we are lucky to have her.

Grandma leaves tomorrow, and then I go on solo duty. It was nice to see her reading to Dustin on her final night. We will miss her, but I think we will miss Mom more. Mom, how many days till you come back?

Beautiful Bouncing Boy

Here we are just goofing around. I guess I'll have to take the blame when he turns into a boy who loves to jump on the bed!

Hello, Teeth!

Today Dustin's two bottom teeth popped through the gums. I first noticed when he was chewing on my finger. (ouch!) Then I caught a glimpse of them during a wide-mouthed goofy grin. Jeff initially had a hard time catching sight of them, but then he managed to snap a couple nice pics. Here Dustin looks a little skeptical of all the changes these teeth may bring. Little does he know that it basically means a wider variety of yummy food!

Biggest Bath Ever!

Well, Dustin has started finding new ways to get himself dirty. It's hard to believe that any food gets down into his tummy, because it seems to end up everywhere else. We have resorted to giving him baths continuously, or what feels that way. He seems to really enjoy it and loves to splash in the water.

So, Sunday we decided to take him to the biggest bath tub he has ever seen. The local swimming pool. He might think it is a little strange to wear clothing into the tub, but there were so many other things to watch, I don't think he noticed much. He loved to splash and watch all the other kids splashing.

He even got lots of walking practice in the water. That is until Daddy lost his grip and Dustin went for a dunk. Good thing we have that mammalian reflex!
